Buffalo Trace Distillery

Buffalo Trace saw an opportunity to evolve from an iconic destination for whiskey enthusiasts, into a more holistic hospitality experience.

RETAIL EXPERIENCE / ARCHITECTURE

Opportunity

As one of the most legendary names in American whiskey, Buffalo Trace Distillery has long been a popular destination, but their on-site experience had a clear gap. Guests could tour, taste, and explore the brand’s rich heritage, yet there was no place to gather, linger, or enjoy a meal. The vision was to elevate the environment by introducing its first-ever food and beverage concept in a way that felt authentic to the distillery’s history and character.

The Change

We transformed an underutilized log cabin – once an employee mess hall – into a warm, elevated café that now feels like a natural extension of the property. A careful study of the original cabin was essential to ensure authenticity, and we leveraged as much of the existing architecture as possible. Every detail and material, including copper, wood, and tin, were inspired directly by Buffalo Trace to ensure intentionality.

The space is now a seamless blend of experience and brand immersion, introducing flexible dining, grab-and-go offerings, fresh-prepared food and cocktails, a retail component, and a coffee bar featuring curated artifacts to reinforce the brand’s history.

Impact

The café now expands how guests engage with Buffalo Trace, proving the brand can evolve while staying true to its heritage. The result is not just a café, but a new chapter for Buffalo Trace, raising the standard for distillery hospitality and establishing a foundation for future growth.
