Get to know Mitchell Kirkham-Cooper, the newest addition to our team! Mitchell shares which brands he thinks are resonating, what brought him to ChangeUp, and more.
At ChangeUp, we’re inspired daily by the people we work with. This led us to launch “Five Questions With” – a monthly series that spotlights a different employee, asking them five questions that we hope sparks some inspiration in you too. Next up, get to know Neel Desai, Associate Director of Automotive.
What are you currently reading or listening to?
I love reading a variety of publications like Dezeen, Motor Authority, and Popular Mechanics to name a few. I’ve always enjoyed reading in short form and diversifying the subject matters. I like to read something different each day because there’s always something new to learn. Throughout the day, listening to music is also motivating, and as travel for our clients ramps back up, my plane rides are filled with eclectic music. Currently on repeat are Alt J, Diplo, and Rufus Du Sol. Listening to music imparts inspiration, and more importantly, rejuvenates me.
Tell us about yourself! What do you do at ChangeUp?
I have a background in architecture, environmental design, and construction, which have all been fundamental in my career and role at ChangeUp. As an Associate Director on the automotive team, I’ve been fortunate enough to get to wear a few different hats in my role – from design consultant to project manager, and coordinator throughout the construction process. At the end of the day, my goal is to ensure everything is running smoothly and according to plan.
What’s most unique about working entirely with automotive clients.
Two of my passions in life are architecture and cars, so working entirely with automotive clients provides an extremely unique experience where I can appreciate and respect my position. The unique comradery we develop with our clients at ChangeUp allows vast insights into the automotive world. There certainly have been challenging times, and with the future of electric vehicles on the cusp of transforming this industry, I have gained diverse knowledge in automotive commerce.
What are you most passionate about outside work?
Aside from architecture and cars, my biggest passion is simply spending time with my family and friends. I love getting us out of the house, whether it’s attending a football game, visiting Disneyland, going to a concert, or doing something outdoors with my nieces and nephews.
What excites you most about the future of automotive retail design?
I’m most excited by how auto retailers are beginning to integrate technology into the entire car buying experience. New customer demands and behaviors are forcing all the brands to rethink their retail experience and start to better prepare for the future of EVs. It’s fun to see how the industry is transforming and be a part of designing dealerships that embrace and connect with customers in new ways.
